this blog has been stagnant for so long haha even though it's so new. Laziness persists. ):
i visited Bollywood Veggies and the Jurong Birdpark this week!
Bollywood Veggies is a local veg farm located in the Lim Chu Kang area, and is really an escape from the urbane life and landscape we are so used to in singapore. the farm is best visited in the early morning before eleven. it's quite convenient to get there. take a train to kraji mrt station, wait at bus bay 3, for the Kranji express! the first bus is at 9am, and the subsequent ones arrive every 1.5 hours later. the shuttle service stops at 9 different farms all around the area. there are veg and fruit farms, frog farms, fish farms, croc farms. notice the unsettling food chain of sorts?

reaching at 9plus, weather was quite good for a walk around the farm. there are more common crops like rambutan, longang, guava, kangkong.. and there are more special ones like ai ai, coffee, breadfruit tree.. the place is very scenic, and it draws the occasional rare animal. eagles probably top the list. the farm is easy to navigate with a brochure given at the door. also, entrance cost $2, but if you take the kranji express, and get a stamp on your hand, the entrance fee is waived. oh, and the shuttle ride costs, well, $2.

and this was found in the farm. what a beauty. one man excavator. haha.

after all the walking, you'll probably be hungry. so head to Poison Ivy bistro, which is part of the farm, to enjoy organic food. well i had a not so organic prata. but the veg curry is supposedly made with organic veg k. haha well it was a real nice dish. delicious, and the curry is not too spicy, otherwise i wouldn't have been able to swallow anyway. lemongrass drink was nice too, very fragrant scent. food is healthy, with minimal seasoning. salt is referred to as the Poison. look at the first pic, yellow sign. save your kidneys!

heal your soul, thrill your self, kill time. visit this area!

after the farm, headed to the Birdpark. the place has changed so much since my last visit, some 10 years ago. (DUH). more spacious and interesting now i believe, esp with the african showcase. my favourite? the shoebill. google it! it is such a gorgeous bird that can grow up to 1.5m tall, blue feathers and a heck on an awesome beak. look!

for those who have not visited the birdpark in a while, say 5 years? go! for $18, you can spend up to 5hours just admiring the creatures, and watch 2 to 3 animal shows. no matter how many times you've seen it, or how lame you think it'll be, the shows really do entertain, esp when you have enthusiastic volunteers. i shld have raised my hand.. (:

there are tonnes of other photos but i shall upload them another time. (:
